Few of my Suggestions..
Affiliate with some anime or proboard top sites?
maybe we shouldn't have name colors since they may hurt the eyes on some skins.
putting the link to this forum into your sig at other forums or have a little mini banner for it how I advertise mine in my sig.

I was kinda thinkin that we could have a variety of skins to choose from since we only have 2 at the moment.
